Airplanes and Alaska State Troopers

Updated: Mar 26

Several months before we moved to Alaska, I struggled making the decision to move away from friends and family in Illinois where I had lived all my life. We felt God was pointing us in the direction of moving to Alaska but had no idea why.

So, before I went to bed one night, I prayed this prayer: “God, if you want us to move to Alaska, please show me a glimpse of the future.”

The next morning, I woke up with two thoughts: “airplanes” and “Alaska State Troopers.” Both thoughts made no sense to me because our move to Alaska was for a different job. Neither “airplanes” nor “Alaska State Troopers” were in our plan for Alaska.

I learned God’s plans aren’t always our plans.

It took stepping out in faith and moving to Alaska for me to see “airplanes” and the “Alaska State Troopers” really were in our future. Our new home in Alaska would be near Eielson Air Force Base. One of the flight paths flies directly over our home.

Several months later, my husband was offered a new job to work for the Alaska State Troopers as a background investigator. A year later, my daughter began working for the Alaska State Troopers and is now a supervisor for her division. The same year she began working there, she met the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with. He too, is an Alaska State Trooper.

God is amazing, isn’t He?

I encourage you to not lose hope for your future. Step forward in faith even when you don’t know where God is taking you!
